I figure, at some point I should at least say something about myself... so here goes. I started sketching/drawing, etc as a kid, inspired by comics, video games, and Saturday morning cartoons. Challenged by a friend to attempt an on the spot pencil portrait (of themselves), I did, and found I had a knack for very realistic images. I began trying my hand at as many styles as I could stumble across, and eventually ended up doing commissions/requests for a fee. I can't say how amazed and shocked I was when someone actually offered to pay me for my work! Such an idea had never occurred to me. I just loved creating my drawings, loved zoning out on a project around 7pm during summer break from school, only to finally look up and find I was hungry, had to pee, and it was 3am in the morning. The tiredness didn't even hit me until I backed away from my desk. Pencils, pencil colors, markers/ink, and chalk. I stared suspiciously at my watercolors and for some odd reason found the concept of painting daunting, and never tried.
I got older, and pursued career stuff, blah, blah, blah, and find I spend too much time doing what I think I should, and can barely even remember what I actually like. I also find art is a lot like running. If you take a really long break from it, you find your performance isn't quite on par with what you used to do. I find creating something kind of a catharsis... weird how you can get accustomed to not expressing yourself.
So! When I actually get farther than some doodles in my sketchpad, I'll post it. Or maybe I'll start posting doodles for some constructive criticism. We'll see.
